A controversy has arisen after a video was captured of middle-aged men approaching a Caucasian woman sunbathing in a bikini on a famous Hong Kong beach, where they made physical contact with her and forcibly took a picture with her. These men are known to be Chinese group tourists from China.
In a 23-second video released on the Chinese social media platform Douyin (the Chinese version of TikTok), middle-aged men wearing badges indicating they are group tourists and dressed in similar Mao suits approach a Caucasian woman sunbathing on Repulse Bay beach in Hong Kong and ask to take a picture with her.
One man, who sits right next to the woman, boldly places his hand on her shoulder and asks his companion to take a picture with his cellphone.
Despite the woman clearly expressing her refusal, the man insistently holds her shoulder, takes the picture, and leaves with a satisfied face.
Following this, another middle-aged man takes his place, attempting to take a picture with his hand on the woman’s shoulder, just like the previous man.
The woman expresses her refusal more strongly, but this man ignores her, and the video ends with him touching her back.
As the middle-aged men are identified as Chinese group tourists from Henan Province, China, social media platforms such as Weibo in China and the local press in Hong Kong have erupted in outrage over their disrespectful behavior.
