On the 18th, the government claimed it could not rule out the possibility of hereditary succession for Kim Jong Un’s daughter, Kim Ju Ae, as North Korea has used the term “Hyangdo.” However, they argued that if the succession into the fourth generation becomes a reality, the North Korean people will inevitably suffer.

Koo Byung Sam, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Unification, stated during a regular briefing on the same day, “The term ‘Hyangdo’ has traditionally been used only for the supreme leader or the Workers’ Party of Korea. This suggests that we cannot rule out the possibility of Kim Ju Ae’s succession, and we are looking for all the different possibilities.”

On the 16th, the Korean Central News Agency elevated the expression level for Kim Jong Un’s daughter, Kim Ju Ae, using the phrase “A great person of Hyangdo” from the previous “Precious noble child.”

“Hyangdo” means to guide the way forward in a revolutionary struggle and lead to victory. It is expected that Kim Jong Un, the Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, will gradually raise the modifier for Kim Ju Ae, the next leader, and begin the idolization process. This is the first time the term “Hyangdo” has been used for Kim Ju Ae.

North Korean authorities have gradually elevated the expression for Kim Ju Ae, using titles such as “beloved child,” “precious noble child,” and “Korean rising star general.” This time, they used the expression “Hyangdo,” indirectly idolizing Kim Ju Ae to the North Korean people.
