A British female YouTuber stirred a buzz by releasing a unique video of her conversation with a North Korean soldier in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ).

Zoe, who runs a YouTube channel called Zoe Discovers, recently posted a video of her interviewing a North Korean soldier in the DMZ in a pleasant atmosphere.

In the video, Zoe created a warm and friendly atmosphere, laughing and chatting with the North Korean soldier. This was a stark contrast to the typically stern and severe image of North Korean soldiers.

Zoe said, “Many people say they’ve never seen a North Korean soldier smile before,” and expressed her desire to “show the ordinary daily lives of the people of this country, excluding political noise.”

However, some are raising the possibility that this video could be a deliberate staging by North Korean authorities. Japanese media ANN reported, “Zoe denies any relationship with North Korean authorities, but experts point out the possibility of propaganda.” They suggest North Korea might have intentionally portrayed a friendly image for the outside world.

Meanwhile, Zoe emphasized on her YouTube channel that she is “not receiving financial support from any particular company or the North Korean government,” denying any suspicion. She also expressed her ambition to “provide a new perspective on North Korea.” Zoe’s channel has 241 videos capturing the daily lives of North Koreans, including their ping-pong games, and currently has over 16,000 subscribers.
