Kim Jong Un, leader of North Korea, emphasized that possessing military reconnaissance satellites is a “struggle to protect our independent rights and a vital and decisive task for national sovereignty and legitimate defense,” criticizing South Korea for “hysterically resorting to military demonstrations and directly challenging us.”

Kim argued, “The South Korean puppets chopped logic with some provocation over the launch of the reconnaissance satellite and launched attack squadron flights and strike training, claiming it as an opportunity to demonstrate their strong capabilities and will.”

He further stated, “We are putting efforts into acquiring reconnaissance satellites because it is a crucial task directly linked to the safety of our country rather than practical and essential communication satellites, weather observation satellites, or resource exploration satellites.”

Also, Kim emphasized that North Korea ensured transparency in satellite launches and issued warnings in compliance with international regulations to ensure the safety of all ships and aircraft in the area.

He continued, “The reckless act of threatening our sovereign territory, which should be taken very seriously, with war weapons is a very dangerous provocation, a clear violation of our sovereignty, and an unforgivable mischief that we cannot but get angry about.”

He added, “We must certainly exercise our right to self-defense with absolute and overwhelming resolute action against the reckless behavior of South Korean military gangsters who chose to respond hastily with mad military demonstrations to our proud and legitimate exercise of sovereign rights.”

Kim stated, “Mobilizing military retaliation for the complete protection of national sovereignty and territory is the supreme mission of the Republic’s armed forces approved by our constitution and other laws,” and added, “We must permanently establish our overwhelming will and ability to wage war so that hostile forces dare not even contemplate using force.”

He also sent a message encouraging them to do better in the future while openly mentioning the failure of the launch of Reconnaissance Satellite 2.

Kim claimed that the recent launch failure was due to a malfunction in the first-stage engine’s self-destruction system. He acknowledged that the expected results were not achieved but emphasized that such setbacks would not deter their efforts but would inspire even greater determination. Kim also noted the value of learning and developing from failures, underscoring the importance of these experiences in their ongoing progress.
