Recently, a see-through outfit worn by Kim Jong Un’s daughter, Kim Ju Ae, has become a hot topic and is reportedly becoming a trend among the children of high-ranking officials in Pyongyang. The see-through clothing, which is not commonly seen in North Korea, has been spotted on the children of these officials since Kim Ju Ae was seen wearing it.

The North Korean state-run media, Korean Central News Agency, recently reported on representative nurseries and kindergartens in Pyongyang, showcasing photos of children dressed in unfamiliar clothing.

The children were seen wearing dresses or tops with semi-transparent sleeves, similar to the see-through outfit that Kim Ju Ae recently wore at an official banquet.

The nurseries and kindergartens featured in the report are known to be prestigious institutions attended by Pyongyang’s elite.

Radio Free Asia analyzed these photos as evidence that Kim Ju Ae’s see-through style is on the trend among the children of high-ranking officials.

Previously, on the 14th of last month, Kim Ju Ae wore a purple see-through top at the completion ceremony of a Pyongyang forward street. This choice of attire sparked widespread discussion, as it deviated from the conservative norms of North Korean society. Her outfit stood out because her peers typically wear shirts and red skirts, marking a noticeably different appearance.

Regarding this, the Director of the Center for Korean Peninsula Strategy at the Sejong Institue, Cheong Seong Chang, analyzed and stated, “People like Ri Sol Ju or Kim Ju Ae are free from existing constraints. These kinds of things shock North Korean residents, especially women, and are bringing about changes in clothing in North Korea.”
