A tragic incident occurred at an Indian safari park, where a trainer was stomped to death by an elephant he was training.

According to the Daily Mail, on June 20, a 62-year-old trainer was attacked and killed by a 1,984-pound elephant at a safari park in the Idukki region of Kerala, India.

The video footage shows the trainer repeatedly poking and hitting the elephant’s legs with a bamboo stick. The elephant, appearing to be angry, suddenly pushed the trainer over with its front legs and began trampling him. The elephant, seemingly still enraged, then lifted the trainer with its trunk and slammed him to the ground.

According to reports, the man died at the scene. His body was officially autopsied before being handed over to his relatives for the funeral.

The police and authorities have issued an emergency closure order for the safari park and are continuing their investigation.

An official stated, “We are investigating whether there were any violations of regulations related to the elephant safari. The park’s closure is necessary for the safety of the elephants.”
