According to the Mainichi Shimbun, two employees working at a cleaning company in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto, were arrested for injuring their coworker by putting him in a washing machine in March.

Investigations revealed that on March 26, at around 2:30 PM, they put their mentally disabled coworker into an industrial washing machine and turned it on, causing him to get injured. The victim suffered injuries requiring two weeks of treatment.

At the time, they reportedly told the victim, “You smell. Get in the washing machine.”

The washing machine they forcibly put the victim into is a large industrial machine with a capacity of 100 kg and a depth of 2 meters. It is typically used for washing items like dolls or event tents.

The victim did not see a doctor until several days after the incident. The doctor found bruises and wounds on his body, found it suspicious, and reported it to the police.

Upon investigating the victim, the police uncovered the facts of the incident, and additional past abuse cases were revealed, leading to an investigation into the possibility of workplace bullying.
