China Protests Demand Freedom and Reform, Slam Xi Jinping’s Dictatorship

Liberty Times, a national newspaper published in Taiwan, revealed protests against Chinese President Xi Jinping’s rule in Hunan Province.

It cited a post on the X account, “Teacher Li Is Not Your Teacher” (李老師不是你老師), stating that anti-China protests had taken place the day before.

On Tuesday, a pedestrian bridge in Xinhua County, Guo Di City, Hunan Province, displayed a banner with red letters stating, “We want equality instead of privilege, freedom instead of control, dignity instead of lies, reform instead of revolution, voting instead of dictators, and citizens instead of slaves.”

On the opposite side, a banner read, “Strike and refuse classes; let’s impeach dictator Xi Jinping.”

The X account also shared a video where speakers played the same messages from the banner. This account posts content related to human rights movements and protests in China. The authenticity of this video has yet to be confirmed.

The scenes recall the Sitong Bridge protest in Beijing in October 2022. Feng Li Pa, who led the demonstration, displayed a banner reading, “We do not want lockdowns and control; we want freedom.” He was arrested following the protest, which criticized the Chinese government’s stringent “zero-COVID” policy and ignited significant controversy.
