North Korea’s Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui attended the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum and the 1st BRICS Women’s Forum in St. Petersburg, Russia, as the state-run Rodong Sinmun reported on Sunday.

During the Eurasian Women’s Forum, Choe spoke at a dialogue meeting focused on “Diplomacy and Geopolitics of the 21st Century: Women’s Viewpoint on Solving Global Tasks.” In her remarks, she asserted that the geopolitical security of the Korean Peninsula is under serious threat due to the aggressive and unilateral actions of the U.S. and its allies, which she accused of pursuing hegemony and self-interest.

Choe emphasized that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) will not tolerate any hostile acts that threaten its sovereignty and dignity or the safety of its people. She declared that the DPRK is committed to defending peace and security on the Korean Peninsula through its principled struggle and robust capabilities.

Furthermore, Choe claimed that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is a direct result of the aggressive policies adopted by the U.S. and the West against Russia, which she said have systematically undermined Russia’s legitimate security interests for decades. She expressed unwavering support for what she termed the “just sacred war” of the Russian army and people.

According to Rodong Sinmun, Choe also participated in a strategic meeting on the topic BRICS in the Future: Cooperative Prospect during the 1st BRICS Women’s Forum. She noted that this gathering serves as a significant political meeting aimed at enhancing the role of progressive women in promoting friendship and cooperation among nations and ethnic groups that pursue independence, peace, and justice.

The international forum, which began on the 18th and lasted three days, was attended by high-level female politicians and representatives in industrial, academic, and social aspects from over 120 countries, including North Korea, Russia, Vietnam, Laos, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Serbia, Uganda, Qatar, and others.
