Authorities have spotted another balloon from North Korea, filled with debris, drifting across South Korean skies.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) confirmed Friday morning that North Korea had once again launched what appears to be a “trash balloon” aimed at the South.
The JCS warned that, based on wind patterns, the balloon was likely headed toward northern Gyeonggi Province and the greater Seoul area. Citizens were advised to remain vigilant and report any debris to the military or police, cautioning against direct contact.
North Korea sent the balloons in two days since Wednesday, a total of 24 instances of balloons toward South Korea this year.
The South Korean government suspects that North Korea is using these balloons to sow discord and disrupt daily life in the South. In response, the government has heightened its state of alert.
