Kim Jong Un’s Military on Full Alert – Is War With South Korea Closer Than We Think?

The Korean Central News Agency reported that North Korea’s General Staff of the Korean People’s Army ordered the Operational Reserve to be fully combat-ready for the artillery units near the border on Saturday.

The directive from the General Staff of the Korean People’s Army included instructions for eight fully equipped artillery brigades to transition to combat readiness by 8 p.m. Sunday.

The order also mandated increased surveillance and vigilance across all military units, emphasizing anti-aircraft surveillance posts in Pyongyang. The KCNA reported that the war readiness measures were implemented with the expectation of an immediate strike on enemy targets if necessary, reflecting heightened tensions following accusations of South Korean drone incursions into North Korean airspace.

Earlier on Friday, North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that South Korean drones had violated Pyongyang’s airspace on October 3, 9, and 10. The ministry released images captured by surveillance cameras, showing drones and anti-North Korean leaflets allegedly dropped from the air.

On Saturday, Kim Yo Jong, Deputy Director of the Workers’ Party of Korea, warned that any further drone provocations over Pyongyang would result in a “terrible disaster,” stating, “We have no interest in who the provocateurs are. The moment a South Korean drone is spotted over our capital again, disaster will strike.”

In response, the South Korean Ministry of National Defense issued a statement on Sunday condemning North Korea’s hypocritical attempt to intimidate South Korean citizens and urging the North Korean authorities to stop their internationally embarrassing balloon launches.

“If you threaten the safety of our citizens, that day will mark the end of the North Korean regime,” the South Korean defense ministry warned.
