Recent satellite imagery has confirmed the extensive damage caused by floods in North Korea’s Chagang Province. At least eight new residential developments, including apartment complexes, are now under construction in these cities and towns.
According to Voice of America, Planet Labs, a U.S. commercial satellite company, analyzed satellite images to reveal the details.
At least four new apartment buildings bordering the Changja River have been erected, including several houses or low-rise structures visible in front of them.
Objects resembling building foundations were observed adjacent to the apartment complex, suggesting plans for further construction in the immediate vicinity.
Earlier satellite images from August had already captured the destruction of the housing complex, with large tent cities scattered across the region, likely providing shelter for displaced residents.
