The Swedish ambassador to North Korea has officially commenced diplomatic activities.
On Friday, Rodong Sinmun reported that Andreas Bengtsson, the Swedish ambassador, presented his credentials to Choe Ryong Hae, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly.
The newspaper stated that Choe received the credentials on behalf of Kim Jong Un, and the two engaged in a cordial conversation.
The report also mentioned that Kim Sun Kyung, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, officials from relevant departments, and staff members of the Swedish embassy were present at the meeting.
The Swedish embassy in North Korea has historically acted as a representative for U.S. interests in the country.
