Residents and students from flood-ravaged regions along the Amnok River, temporarily sheltered in Pyongyang, have begun their journey back home.

On Monday, Rodong Sinmun reported that those returning expressed heartfelt gratitude and mixed emotions as they bid farewell to the dedicated officials, support staff, and teachers who had selflessly contributed to their children’s care and education.

The report further stated that Pyongyang citizens lined the streets to bid farewell to the departing residents and students while Party Central Committee officials saw them off at Pyongyang Station.

On Saturday, North Korea held a completion ceremony for new housing in flood-affected areas of North Pyongan Province, with Kim Jong Un in attendance. Similar ceremonies also took place in Jagang and Yanggang Provinces.
