The inauguration ceremony for the local industry factory in Jaeryeong County, South Hwanghae Province, North Korea, was held on Tuesday. General Secretary Kim Jong Un attended.

Rodong Sinmun reported on Wednesday that “Prime Minister Pak Tae Song, senior party and government officials, People’s Army soldiers involved in the construction, local factory workers and employees, as well as officials and workers from South Hwanghae Province and Jaeryeong County, participated in the ceremony.”

After touring the facility, Kim declared, “The consecutive openings of local industrial factories in 20 cities and counties, including Seongcheon and Jaeryeong, mark a significant milestone for our nation. This strengthens my resolve to undertake more initiatives for our people’s benefit.”

The newspaper reported that Kim provided guidance on key principles and methods for consistently managing factory operations and product manufacturing while examining pilot-produced items.

The report also stated, “Kim discussed with accompanying senior officials a series of measures for the party and government to continuously support and strongly propel the development of local industries to ensure sustainable progress.”

Kim emphasized that city and county-level party and government bodies should consistently prioritize securing essential conditions for stable production in local factories. This includes addressing raw material shortages and training skilled workers. He stressed that regional development policies must tangibly enhance the material well-being of area residents.

Kim added, “Building on last year’s achievements, we’re setting higher benchmarks this year. We aim to maximize economic viability, effectiveness, and future potential, making this a year of significant progress in local development.”

Before Kim’s remarks, Ju Chang Il, Director of the Central Committee’s Propaganda and Agitation Department, declared during the inauguration ceremony, “Today’s grand inauguration is both a proud achievement of the local industry revolution and a new platform for greater, more vigorous strides forward.”

In 2024, North Korea began building local industry factories in 20 regions nationwide. Following the inauguration in Seongcheon County, the ceremony in Jaeryeong County marks the next milestone in this nationwide effort.
