North Korea dealt with unusual spring temperatures, which brought heavy snowfall and strong winds to several regions.

On Monday, Rodong Sinmun reported that a strong low-pressure system from North China brought heavy snowfall to northern inland areas and the west coast starting April 12. Minimum temperatures fell below 1 degree Celsius, causing severe abnormal climate disasters.

The report stated that snowfall exceeded 20 centimeters and came with strong winds in areas such as Nangrim, Songwon, Kopung, and Huichon in Chagang Province; Yongbyon, Unsan, and Dongchang in North Pyongan Province; and Changjin in North Hamgyong Province.

The newspaper emphasized that understanding how heavy snowfall and strong winds affect crop growth is crucial in agriculture. It called for strict technical measures to limit the damage from these severe abnormal climate events.
