Former Goldman Sachs Exec Spills Crypto Secrets: What’s in Raoul Pal’s Portfolio?

theguru Views

Raoul Pal, a former executive at the global investment bank Goldman Sachs and currently the CEO of financial services company Real Vision, has revealed his cryptocurrency asset portfolio.

On the 8th, Pal appeared on the cryptocurrency YouTube channel “Crypto Banter,” stating that about 90% of his assets are in the cryptocurrency sector.

Pal is one of the leading optimists in the cryptocurrency market and established the Web3 fund “Science Magic Studio” in July 2022.

Pal attracted investments from Liberty City Ventures, Coinbase Ventures, DCG, and Brevan Howard Digital to establish Science Magic Studio. He aimed to use coins and metaverse technology to generate profits in music, fashion, film, sports, and other fields, thereby expanding the Web3 ecosystem.

In October 2021, he predicted a strong bull market for several months. Still, the cryptocurrency market quickly entered a bear market from mid-November that year, which was a blow to his reputation.

Ethereum, the most significant portion of Pal’s cryptocurrency assets, is invested in a hedge fund for cryptocurrency-related investments. It was also confirmed that he owns several non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

What caught the eye is that Pal has his assets in Solana and Sui, both Layer 1 blockchains. Pal, who announced in December 2023 that he bought Ripple (XRP), did not mention Ripple this time and instead talked about Solana and Sui, which he already owned.

Pal invested in Solana because “Solana was like Ethereum during its last boom” and “because it’s Altcoin season and it’s off the risk curve, hedge funds are more risky,” he explained.

Regarding Sui, he said, “I wanted to participate in one of the large Layer 1s. Among them, Sui was a very serious group,” and described it as “very interesting and decent people, amazing project.”
