Apple Foldable iPhone Launch Date Shifts From Late 2026 to Early 2027

The release date for the anticipated foldable iPhone by Apple has been adjusted.

On the 18th, a high-ranking official familiar with Apple’s internal affairs told Alpha Economy, “We plan to start selling the foldable iPhone a bit later than expected after making thorough preparations, including securing the supply of foldable displays.”

The initial sales date for the foldable iPhone, mentioned by this official, is adjusted from the fourth quarter of 2026 to the first quarter of 2027.

However, selecting key component suppliers, such as foldable display manufacturers, is expected to proceed as scheduled.

According to Apple and others, the U.S. Patent Office has approved Apple’s patent application for a foldable display.

The patent is for an electronic device technology that minimizes creases along the folding axis with a flexible display built into the body.

In simple terms, it shaves the inside of the glass cover at the folding part of the device to make it easily bendable and prevent creases.

Apple believes it will be effective in smoothing the inner surface of the polymer cover and reducing light reflection on the rough texture of the filler surface.

Polymers are made from flexible materials like silicone or acrylate that are effective for minimizing light reflection.
