Hyundai’s Electric Vehicle Lineup Racks Up 48 Awards Across 13 Countries

globalautonews Views

In the fierce global electric vehicle market, Hyundai Motor Group’s various electric vehicle models have been honored one after another at award ceremonies hosted by influential automotive organizations and media around the world, including in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

According to Hyundai Motor Group on March 19, the electric vehicles of its three brands — Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis — have won 48 awards in 13 countries over the past six months. Of the awards, 41 came from North America and Europe.

Such good results continue with electric vehicle models based on E-GMP, Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated electric vehicle platform.

Even though it has been three years since it was launched as an electric vehicle platform, E-GMP can be said to be a core technology that completes the marketability of electric vehicles exclusively for Hyundai Motor Group by applying a body structure, chassis, high-speed motor, and high-density battery cells optimized for electric vehicles.

In addition, it is equipped with an 800V charging system and can be charged from 10% to 80% within 18 minutes when using an ultra-fast rapid charger, allowing you to drive 100 km ( 62 miles) within 5 minutes of charging.

According to the ranking of electric vehicle mileage per charging hour announced by Edmunds, an American automobile website, in November 2023, all models in 1st to 3rd place were E-GMP-based electric vehicle models, and five models were included in the top 10 (1st place IONIQ 6 rear-wheel model 1,397 km (868 miles), 2nd place Kia EV6 rear-wheel model 1,238 km (770 miles), and 3rd place IONIQ 6 four-wheel model 1,230 km (764 miles)).

Recently, on Fueleconomy.gov, a fuel-saving information site jointly operated by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the IONIQ 6 long-range rear-wheel model (18-inch wheels, combined fuel efficiency 140 MPGe) has the ‘highest fuel consumption efficiency was ranked in the top 10, and seven vehicles based on E-GMP were included in the top 10, proving its competitiveness.

The Kia EV9 won 17 categories, including the 2024 North American SUV of the Year, the 2024 German Car of the Year Luxury Category, the 2024 British Car of the Year, the 2024 Danish Car of the Year Innovation Award, and the 2023 Top Gear Family Car of the Year. This is a great achievement.

In the case of the Hyundai Ioniq 6, its marketability was recognized by winning a total of seven categories, including the 2024 German Car of the Year New Energy category, the 2024 Ireland Car of the Year, the 2024 Scotland Car of the Year, and the Family Car category at 2024 UK Car of the Year.

The IONIQ 5 took top positions in eight categories, including the 2024 Singapore Car of the Year, the 2024 India Car of the Year Green Car category, and the 2024 Best Electric Cars category on Cars.com in the U.S.

The Genesis GV60 received favorable reviews and was selected in three categories, including the 2024 China SUV of the Year and the 2023 Best Large Electric SUV at the UK’s What Car Electric Vehicle of the Year Award.

The dedicated electric vehicle high-performance lineup, IONIQ 5 N (2023 Top Gear Car of the Year) and EV6 GT (2024 Scottish Car of the Year, high-performance car category), attracted attention by receiving award news. The IONIQ 5 N was also selected as the ‘2024 Car of the Year’ by the Korea Automobile Journalists Association and the Korea Automobile Journalists Association, respectively.

In addition, Hyundai Motor Group is being recognized for its outstanding electrification technology. Its internal combustion engine-based electrification models, such as Hyundai’s Kona Electric, Genesis G80 electrified model, and GV70 electrified model, continue to win awards at numerous award ceremonies.

An official from Hyundai Motor Group said, “We are happy that Hyundai Motor, Kia, and Genesis electric vehicles are receiving awards at many prestigious award ceremonies every day,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen our position in the electric vehicle market with more competitive electrified models.”

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor Group has been providing various benefits to customers by expanding the distribution of electric vehicles with excellent marketability.

In February of this year, Hyundai Motor Company launched EV Every Care, which takes responsibility for the entire EV life process. EV Every Care is a program that provides benefits such as ▲charging credit or home charger support (including installation fee) ▲, guaranteed residual value of used cars ▲, and new car exchange support in accordance with the entire life cycle of an electric vehicle, including purchase, ownership, and used car rental.

Kia has also been conducting ‘EV Festa’ since the end of February this year. EV Festa program provides additional benefits for some electric vehicle models. For manufacturers, a discount of ▲3 million won ( $ 2,240) for EV6, ▲3.5 million won ( $ 2,613) for EV9, and 1 million won ( $746) for Niro EV is provided. Support for charger installation costs of up to 700,000 won ( $ 523) is offered to customers who purchase Bongo EVs.

Additionally, Hyundai Capital has launched ‘EV All-in-One Lease/Rent’ for customers purchasing Hyundai electric vehicles. EV All-in-One Lease/Rent is a specialized financial program that lowers the burden of monthly usage fees and provides guaranteed residual value and charging benefits for customers who purchase Hyundai’s major electric vehicles, such as IONIQ 6 and IONIQ 5.
