In honor of Earth Day on April 22, LG Electronics takes a stand to raise awareness about animals facing extinction due to severe climate change.
On the 16th (local time), LG Electronics announced the release of The LG Endangered Species Series on the billboard in Times Square, New York.
The video features a dynamic 3D representation of the endangered Snow Leopard and is designed to raise awareness of animals threatened by climate change and awaken a sense of urgency about carbon emissions and global warming. By the end of the year, the company plans to encourage the public to reduce carbon emissions by featuring four endangered species, including bald eagles, sea lions, and Greenland caribou.
In addition, LG Electronics is launching various programs to protect endangered animals. The company is partnering with the influencer Seth, who has about 7.9 million followers on Instagram, to raise recognition for the campaign.
Seth, an American influencer known for holding witty signs on New York streets, will hold a sign about endangered animals in Times Square and upload it to social media to spread the message.
In collaboration with global education company Discovery Education and the National Wildlife Federation, LG Electronics is developing an educational curriculum about endangered animals and distributing it for free online to over 10,000 schools in the U.S., teaching the next generation the importance of nature. Furthermore, LG Electronics plans to donate a total of $150,000 to maintain a continuous partnership with these two organizations.
LG Electronics branches outside the U.S. will also participate in environmental protection activities to commemorate Earth Day. These include Germany’s Donation of Energy Efficient Product Sales, Thailand’s Marine Conservation Volunteer Work, Taiwan’s Discovery Collaboration, and other eco-friendly campaigns tailored to each country’s situation.
Under its ESG goal of a Better Life for All, LG Electronics operates the LG Hope Screen. It airs public interest videos from international organizations and NGOs on billboards it owns overseas, including in London.
Jeong Kyu Hwang, the President of LG Electronics North America, stated that the company aims to inform customers worldwide, including the U.S., about LG Electronics’ ESG management activities and contribute to building a sustainable future for everyone through this campaign.
