Hyundai and Kia Lead the Charge: Four Wins in U.S. Eco-Friendly Car Awards

Recognized for their brand’s eco-friendly vehicle technology

Hyundai Motor and Kia have been recognized for their eco-friendly vehicle technology in the United States. It won four of the 10 categories divided by vehicle model type. 

On the 22nd (local time), the American newsweekly U.S. News & World Report announced the Top 10 2024 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars. The company explained they selected winners in each of 10 categories from 96 global brand eco-friendly car models based on fuel economy, range, and price.

Hyundai Motor and Kia won in a total of four categories, producing the most models. Hyundai Motor’s 2024 Ioniq 5 was named the Best Electric SUV, the 2024 Ioniq 6 the Best Electric Car, and the 2024 Tucson Hybrid the Best Hybrid SUV. For Kia, Sportage Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) won in the Best Plug-in Hybrid category.

The remaining categories, Best Luxury Electric Car, Best Luxury Electric SUV, Best Electric Truck, Best Luxury Plug-in Hybrid, Best Hybrid Car, and Best Luxury Hybrid, were awarded to the 2024 Lucid Air, 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge, 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning, 2024 Volvo S60 Recharge, 2024 Toyota Camry Hybrid, and 2024 Lexus NX Hybrid, respectively.

The results of this U.S. News & World Report assessment are known to be highly credible, with surveys indicating that they influence around 80% of potential car buyers in the United States.

Liz Opsitnik, editor of U.S. News & World Report, emphasized that “the winning models this time are making progress towards an eco-friendly future based on sustainability” and “they are providing quality and value to consumers.”
