The comprehensive beverage company MyBeer has signed a business agreement with the non-profit organization Big Issue Korea to support the Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup.

The Homeless World Cup is a global festival that unites individuals from around the world who are vulnerable to homelessness. It is an international sports event to foster social innovation, where participants use soccer to uplift themselves and support one another in building better lives and communities. With its vision of a world without homelessness, this event has consistently catalyzed significant shifts in public attitudes and perceptions surrounding housing poverty and rights since 2003.

Following Amsterdam, Glasgow, Oslo, Mexico City, and Sacramento last year, the 19th event will take place in Seoul, marking the event’s debut in Asia. The Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup is set to host 64 teams from 49 countries across the globe. Scheduled from September 21 to 28, the tournament will unfold at the Hanyang University Stadium in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.

Key executives from both companies, including Kim Jong Myung, CEO of MyBeer, and Kim Soo Yeol, Chairman of Big Issue Korea, graced the business agreement ceremony. They pledged cooperation in orchestrating the successful staging of the Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup and vowed to support the development of job experience services offered by Big Issue Korea to individuals facing housing vulnerability.

MyBeer will extend its assistance in preparing for the Seoul 2024 Homeless World Cup, including proposals for athlete accommodations, fundraising initiatives, and backing the production of various goods by Big Issue Korea.

Kim Jong Myung, CEO of MyBeer, said, “There are nearly 100 million people worldwide living without a home, and it is said that over a billion people live in substandard housing. I believe it is meaningful for MyBeer to be part of the Homeless World Cup, which provides new opportunities for people in housing crises and improves social awareness.” He added, “Through our business agreement with Big Issue Korea, we will not only strive to host an international event successfully but also to expand the definition of homelessness in Korea and lead changes in attitudes and perceptions towards housing rights.”
