EU vs. Russia: Kremlin Stands Firm Against Sanctions on LNG Trade

Daniel Kim Views

Russia has shown the will to overcome the sanctions imposed by the European Union (EU).

The Kremlin in Russia announced on the 27th that it would find a way to overcome the illegal sanctions imposed by the EU on the liquefied natural gas (LNG) business.

An EU official announced last Thursday that the EU Executive Commission’s next sanction measures are expected to include a ban on LNG transshipment within the EU and measures against three Russian LNG projects.

Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, told reporters, “Attempts to drive Russia out of the energy market and switch to a more expensive market continue,” and added, “The new EU regulations will benefit the United States and European industries will pay more for gas.”

Furthermore, Spokesman Peskov added, “In any case, we will find a way to overcome these illegal obstacles, unfair competition, and unlawful practices.”
