Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 eN1: The Electric Race Car of the Future

Daniel Kim Views

Hyundai Motor Company is set to host the 2024 Hyundai N Festival on the 11th and 12th at the Everland Speedway in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.

The Hyundai N Festival will also feature the eN1 Class, Korea’s first electric vehicle racing competition. The class will showcase the Ioniq 5 eN1 Cup Car, the first electric race car in Korea, based on Hyundai’s high-performance electric vehicle, the Ioniq 5 N.

The Ioniq 5 eN1 Cup Car is characterized by its fast cornering speed and stability compared to regular models, thanks to the attachment of exclusive racing parts. It is also equipped with N Active Sound Plus, which can produce virtual engine sounds. The N e-Shift feature simulates engine operation during idling and changes the engine brake feeling according to the gear.

Six cup cars will participate in the tournament-style rounds, with participants including this year’s TCR Italy Round 1 winner Park Jun and Kim Gyu Min, who is competing in the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race. Hyundai will host various events, including N Vision 74, the WRC rally car exhibition, a circuit taxi, and a racing simulator.

Till Wartenberg, Head of Hyundai’s N Brand & Motorsports Business, stated, “We will strive to popularize motorsports in line with the trend of the electric vehicle era.”
