Exclusive Insider Info: What to Expect from Apple’s Upcoming Slim iPhone

Daniel Kim Views

[Alpha Economy: (Chicago) Special Correspondent Paul Lee] Apple is set to release a slim version of the iPhone next year.

According to insiders on the 17th, Apple is developing a slim iPhone version, likely to be released in 2025. The company is still testing various designs for the device, codenamed D23, which could feature Apple’s latest processor, A19. Furthermore, insiders suggest that the slim version will likely be priced higher than the iPhone Pro Max and is expected to be launched alongside the iPhone 17 in September 2025.

This news comes just days after Apple unveiled its latest iPad Pro, equipped with a new chip for AI computing, as the tech giant rushes to catch up with big tech competitors in the race to pioneer new technologies.

In contrast, the revamp underscores the need for Apple to improve its most popular product, the iPhone, as it faces fierce competition from Honor, Huawei in China, and Samsung globally. According to International Data, Samsung held the highest smartphone market share, 20.8%, during the first three months of 2024, with Apple following at 17.3%.

iPhone sales for Apple’s second fiscal quarter were $45.96 billion, a decrease of 10.5%.

In response, Apple plans to release a cheaper model, the iPhone Plus and is set to launch a more affordable iPhone, the successor to the iPhone SE, in the spring of 2025.
