Tesla’s Big Push in China: Free Supercharging Miles for Early Birds!

globalautonews Views

Tesla announced via Weibo that Chinese customers placing orders before June 20th could gain eligibility for free Supercharger mileage of up to 3,107 miles. Owners who replace two Goodyear tires at once at a Tesla service center within the next month can receive 373 miles of free Supercharger mileage. Also, owners who replace four tires at once can receive up to 746 miles.

This promotion follows the application of a No-Down-Payment program for Chinese customers purchasing Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced until June 30th, which started at the end of April. The terms at the time included using interest-free loans after a down payment of $79,900.

Tesla had been running an owner referral incentive program for several years, offering about 932 miles of free excess charging credits to the referrer and the buyer in China. However, the program was discontinued in September 2021. The referral reward program was reintroduced in October 2022, but it has become more complicated with the introduction of virtual point rewards.

Tesla’s sales in the Chinese market in April 2024 were 31,421 units, a decrease of 49.64% from March and 21.36% compared to last year.
