Fifth Recall for Tesla: Cybertruck Owners Face New Rearview Camera Issues

Yonhap News

Tesla has announced its fifth recall related to the Cybertruck following an issue with the vehicle’s rearview camera system. On Thursday, the company recalled more than 27,000 Cybertrucks due to a delay in activating the rear camera when shifting into reverse.

Tesla stated that it has rolled out a free software upgrade to resolve this issue, and owner notification letters will be mailed out on November 25.

Since the sales of the Cybertruck began last November, owners have experienced multiple recalls.

In June, Tesla recalled some trucks to fix issues with loose trim pieces and faulty windshield wipers. A recall was issued two months ago due to a problem where the accelerator pedal could get stuck.

In the most recent recall, Tesla informed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the display screen on affected vehicles may remain blank for up to eight seconds after the driver shifts into reverse. Under U.S. regulations, rearview cameras must activate within two seconds of the vehicle shifting into reverse.

Following the news, Tesla’s stock price fell to $246.88, a less than 1% decrease.
