Musk Eyes Global Dominance: Tesla Semi Truck Heading for Europe and Beyond

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has announced that he envisions the Tesla Semi truck as a global product.

According to electric vehicle media outlet InsideEV on Sunday, the Tesla Semi was unveiled at an event in Germany earlier this year, and production in Europe is highly likely to follow. Although the Semi was initially developed for the North American market, Musk recently expressed his desire for it to become a global vehicle.

Tesla is currently constructing a dedicated facility exclusively for Semi production, which is expected to be completed by 2025. Once finished, Tesla aims to achieve its annual production goal of 50,000 units for the Semi.

The company is also considering manufacturing the Semi at its Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany. This plan would likely require an expansion of the facility, and experts believe production at the Berlin site wouldn’t start until 2026. Further, Tesla is evaluating the possibility of producing the Semi in China to meet regional demand and lower production costs.

The Tesla Semi, with a battery capacity of approximately 900 kWh, is capable of traveling up to 500 miles on a single charge. At the first delivery event for the truck, Musk emphasized its environmental impact, noting that gasoline-powered heavy trucks make up just 1% of vehicles on the road but are responsible for 20% of carbon emissions.
