On Sunday, Electrek reported that Tesla and Rivian had settled after four years of litigation.

In 2020, Tesla filed a lawsuit against Rivian, accusing the company of hiring former Tesla employees and encouraging them to take confidential documents and, in doing so, steal trade secrets. Rivian denied these allegations.

It remains unclear what specific trade secrets Tesla claimed Rivian had stolen. However, the employees mentioned in the lawsuit reportedly included specific roles: two recruiters, one Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) manager, and one Tesla charging network manager. Later, Tesla expanded its claims, specifically alleging that Rivian had stolen key technologies related to its next-generation batteries.

Recently, Tesla notified the court that it intended to file a motion to dismiss the lawsuit after reaching a conditional settlement with Rivian. The two companies have not disclosed the details of the settlement. However, if the conditions are met satisfactorily, they will likely request dismissal of the lawsuit by December 24.
