Ford Motor Company has announced a $1 million donation and a vehicle contribution to support President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony

.A Ford spokesperson confirmed the donation on Monday. Ford joins other major corporations, such as Amazon and Meta Platforms, in supporting the event.

Trump has proposed imposing significant tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada while suggesting the elimination of electric vehicle (EV) tax credits. This move could directly affect automakers like Ford.

These potential policies are expected to impact Detroit automakers, including Ford, which are already navigating challenges in expanding and selling battery-powered vehicles.

Ford CEO James D. Farley / Yonhap News

Ford CEO James D. Farley expressed optimism earlier this month, stating that he believes President-elect Trump will be open to considering American automakers’ concerns regarding proposed trade and EV policies.

Farley highlighted Ford’s significant contribution to the U.S. economy and its role in the manufacturing sector, adding that it is reasonable to expect the administration to consider Ford’s position.

For context, Trump raised $167 million for his 2017 inauguration. In comparison, President Joe Biden raised $61.8 million for his 2021 inauguration, with contributions from companies like Pfizer, AT&T, and Boeing.
