BYD, China’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled the Titanium 3, an electric SUV from its off-road sub-brand Fangchengbao. Rugged Design Meets Practicality

The Titanium 3 draws heavily on design elements from Fangchengbao’s Super 3 concept car. Built on a monocoque structure instead of the traditional body-on-frame design in the Bao series, the Titanium 3 balances durability with a refined look. Measuring 4,605 mm (181.3 inches) in length, 1,900 mm (74.8 inches) in width, and 1,720 mm (67.7 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,745 mm (108.1 inches), ensuring ample interior space. It weighs 2,170 kg (4,784 pounds) and comes with 18-inch and 19-inch wheels. It also features a large storage space on the roof that can carry a drone.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released images showcasing the Titanium 3’s rugged yet stylish design. The front fascia features headlights reminiscent of Honda’s Ridgeline and a distinctive black grille area. BYD’s designers have given the Titanium 3 a unique character with rounded wheel arches that extend from the front to the rear doors.

Impressive Performance with Dual-Motor AWD

The Titanium 3’s rear has a more unique look than its front. LED taillights are standard, and the tailgate features a large storage bin that can hold charging cables or other items besides a spare wheel. Like the front bumper, the rear bumper is finished in black plastic.

The Titanium 3’s powertrain is a four-wheel drive system with dual motors on the front and rear wheels. The front wheel has a 148-horsepower AC asynchronous motor, and the rear wheel has a 268-horsepower permanent magnet synchronous motor. This combination demonstrates powerful driving performance and a top speed of 201 km/h (125 mph). Regarding batteries, BYD’s latest technology, Blade battery pack, is installed.

Family-Focused Features and Competitive Pricing

Fangchengbao’s Titanium 3 is a versatile family SUV that blends off-road capabilities with practical, family-friendly features. A panoramic sunroof comes standard, but buyers can customize exterior elements like rim designs and brake caliper colors and even add the drone cabin roof, which raises the vehicle’s height to 1,930 mm (76.0 inches).

Priced competitively at around $27,447 (200,000 yuan), the Titanium 3 offers significant value in the EV market. Considering that 70% of Fangchengbao’s Bao 5 buyers were families, the Titanium 3 seems poised to attract a similar audience, strengthening the brand’s foothold in the family SUV segment.
