According to reports on Thursday, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Sora, and developer API experienced a widespread outage lasting over an hour.

OpenAI disclosed through its status page that the significant disruption was caused by an issue with one of its upstream providers.

While the company assured users it was “actively working to resolve the server outage,” it did not provide a specific timeline for full-service restoration.

This incident marks the second major service interruption for OpenAI’s product suite in December.

Two weeks earlier, OpenAI reported a six-hour outage caused by a new remote monitoring system malfunction. This duration far exceeded the typical one—to two-hour downtime.

Despite the disruptions, affiliated companies reported no impact on services integrating OpenAI’s API.

Popular services such as Complexity and Siri’s integrations with Apple and Intel Corporation remained unaffected.
