Electrek reported that Tesla’s semi-factory in Nevada recently installed the main building’s final major structural steel frame.

Dan Priestley, Senior Manager for Tesla’s Semi-Truck Engineering, shared the news on his X account. Yesterday, Semi Factory Nevada topped off the main area of the building with the last major piece of structural steel!” He added, “Fantastic design and execution by this construction team and our contractor partners, with a focus on safety and efficiency. This factory is going to rock!” This revealed that construction of the Tesla semi-factory is in the final stages.

This update comes after about a year of relative silence following Tesla’s January 2023 announcement to expand its Nevada Gigafactory for mass production of the electric Semi truck. However, earlier this year, Tesla started major construction at the new site, a building adjacent to the existing facility.

In April, Tesla unveiled its timeline. It aims to complete the factory next year and mass-produce Tesla Semi trucks by the end of 2025. This recent update provides insight into the construction progress as the year draws closer.

The Tesla Semi, unveiled in 2017, officially began production in late 2022. As of October 2023, Tesla had produced approximately 70 Semi trucks, which have been used internally or delivered to key customers like PepsiCo.
