Tesla has unveiled the 2025 Model Y Juniper, a refreshed version of its best-selling electric SUV under Project Juniper. The vehicle has been in the spotlight since its debut over two weeks ago.

On Sunday, InsideEVs reported that the Juniper’s design overhaul was its most striking feature. The updated Model Y now features full-width light bars at both the front and rear and a redesigned fascia that gives it a distinct new look. Another key improvement is the enlarged trunk opening, offering greater practicality compared to previous versions.

The Juniper also introduces several functional upgrades, including an improved frunk with a new drainage plug, power-folding rear seats, and enhanced interior materials and build quality.

Performance-wise, the Juniper doesn’t disappoint. The EPA-rated range has seen a modest 3% bump, with the long-range AWD variant now capable of covering 320 miles on a single charge, up from 311 miles. Tesla’s VP of Vehicle Engineering, Lars Moravy, claims a real-world efficiency boost of nearly 10%, crediting much of this improvement to the vehicle’s new wheels and tires.

Like the Model 3 Highland, the Model Y Juniper features a completely revised suspension system to improve ride comfort. While the new setup slightly reduces cornering grip, it provides a smoother driving experience. The performance variant, expected to launch later, will likely retain a firmer suspension preferred by driving enthusiasts.

Tesla’s Chief Designer, Franz von Holzhausen, praised the redesigned rear lighting as his favorite element of the Juniper. He compared it to the afterburners of a jet, adding a futuristic touch to the SUV’s design.

The global launch of the Model Y Juniper is scheduled for March. Industry analysts are closely watching to see if this refreshed model can help Tesla counteract declining sales.

Meanwhile, in June, Tesla is preparing to launch its autonomous robotaxi service in Austin, Texas. The service is expected to expand to multiple U.S. cities throughout the year and be rolled out nationwide next year.
