Tesla’s Cybertruck Earns Top Safety Rating from NHTSA

According to a report by Inside EV on Wednesday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the United States gave the Tesla Cybertruck the highest rating of five stars in their vehicle safety evaluation.

The NHTSA subjected several 2024 Tesla Cybertrucks to crash tests as part of the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP).

Consequently, the Cybertruck was awarded four stars for rollover and five stars for frontal and side crashes, totaling five stars for the final rating.

In the frontal crash, the Cybertruck collides with a solid barrier at 35 mph to test the driver and passenger’s safety. The side barrier and maneuvering crash are assessed in the event of a side crash. Subsequently, the rollover risk assesses the vehicle’s tilting during the dynamic test; the Cybertruck’s rollover risk was 12.4%.

The Tesla Cybertruck is rated as having excellent safety, and this is the first crash test rating to be made public since the vehicle’s November 2023 launch.

It’s worth noting that all Tesla models tested by the NHTSA to date have consistently achieved top safety ratings, underscoring the automaker’s commitment to vehicle safety.
