According to The Verge, Rivian introduced its California Dune Edition on Wednesday. This is a new variant of its electric vehicle (EV) R1 line. The new model has underbody shields for off-road driving, 20-inch all-terrain wheels, and limited-edition colors.
Rivian claims the California Dune Edition is engineered to tackle the most challenging terrains. Built upon the foundation of the R1T and R1S models, which previously introduced innovative driving modes, this new edition pushes the envelope further. The California Dune Edition accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and has a maximum output of 850 horsepower and 1,103 lb-ft of torque. The EPA estimates the driving range to be 329 miles.
The new 20-inch all-terrain wheels come in California Dune finish and dark wheels. Easy-cleaned floor mats are included, and the interior has brand-new Adventure features, such as a tone interior in Sandstone and Black Mountain.
Pricing for the R1T truck in California Dune Edition trim starts at $99,900, while the R1S SUV variant begins at $105,900.
