Kia’s strategic model for India, the Syros, is making waves in the country. Just a month after its launch, orders have surged past 20,000 units.

According to Kia India Sales Corporation, on Wednesday, 21,630 units of Syros were ordered in just two months of pre-ordering. Consumers selected the diesel version, while 67% selected the gasoline version. 38% of all orders were for automatic transmissions, reflecting the local trend toward hassle-free and comfortable driving.

In particular, the premium model was very popular. 46% of buyers chose the highest trim. This shows the preference for advanced features. Among the colors, Glacier White Pearl (32%) was the most popular, followed by Aurora Black Pearl (26%) and Frost Blue (20%).

The Syros is Kia’s fifth SUV offering in the Indian market. Pre-orders kicked off on the 3rd of last month, with the official launch on the 1st of this month.

Syros has a bold exterior, a cozy interior, cutting-edge features, and intelligent connectivity systems. Its name comes from an island in Greece’s Cyclades Islands.

The exterior design embodies Kia’s “Opposites United” philosophy, balancing boldness and functionality. The front end showcases a distinctive star map signature LED lighting and a digital Tiger Face, reinforcing Kia’s RV (Recreational Vehicle) family look while exuding a commanding presence. The Syros is positioned to compete in the segment between the Sonet and Seltos. Key rivals in the local market include the Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Skoda Kushaq.

Numerous cutting-edge driver assistance technologies have also been used. The Syros features forward collision avoidance assist, lane departure prevention assist, lane keeping assist, intelligent cruise control, a surround-view monitor, high beam assist, a driver attention warning, and rear parking collision avoidance assist.

Based on Syros Island, where Western culture and tradition coexist peacefully, Kia intends to offer higher-caliber products than its rivals and expand its market share in the Middle East, Asia-Pacific, Central and South America, and India auto markets.

In particular, Kia aims to expand its local SUV market share with Syros. This year, it will increase its share to 20%, five percentage points higher than its current share of 15%.
