Land Cruiser 300 Revamp Set for March 18, But Delivery Delays Persist

Toyota is set to unveil the revamped Land Cruiser 300 on March 18, but consumers’ response has been lukewarm. Many are focused not on the new model itself but on the continued delays and the question of when they will actually receive their vehicles.

Long Waiting Period and Blocked Orders

Currently, orders for the Land Cruiser 300 are blocked in Japan, with the waiting period stretching from a minimum of 4 years to a maximum of 6 years. Toyota had to stop accepting new orders in Japan in 2022 due to a surge in demand, but production speed is still struggling to keep pace. Despite the upcoming launch of a revamped model, Toyota will prioritize addressing the existing waiting list, making it unlikely that new orders will be accepted in the near future. Consumers who signed contracts are frustrated, fearing that the new model will already be available by the time they receive their vehicle.

Minor Upgrades, Higher Price, but Availability Remains the Issue

The revamped Land Cruiser 300 only slightly improves in convenience and safety specifications, but there are no performance or design changes. The most significant change is the application of the latest Toyota Connected Navigation System.

An 8-inch basic display and a 12.3-inch optional display are also available. However, the CD and DVD players are gone, and the digital rearview mirror is not applied.

Some safety specifications have also been strengthened. The Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 application adds the emergency steering assist system and front cross-traffic alert function. However, the automatic parking assist system and advanced drive function installed in the latest model are still missing.

The price is expected to increase by 130,000 to 150,000 yen (about $ 864 to $ 997).

According to Toyota dealers, the improved model will cost 5,252,500 yen (about $34,903) to 8,136,700 yen (about $54,068).

The slight price increase is positive, but orders are still impossible.

Ongoing Supply Shortages and Uncertain Delivery Times

Toyota dealers in Japan cannot provide a clear timeline for when new orders can be placed. The situation is frustrating for consumers waiting for their Land Cruiser 300. Even with the revamped model set to be revealed in March, the likelihood of orders resuming soon is low. Delivery times for those in the queue are expected to extend into 2026 or possibly 2027.

Unless Toyota can secure additional production capacity, the supply shortage for the Land Cruiser 300 is expected to continue, leaving consumers in a state of uncertainty and frustration.
