Donald Trump has sparked controversy by sharing a fake image of President Joe Biden, suggesting he’s bound and kidnapped ahead of the November elections.

The New York Times reported on the 30th (local time) that “Donald Trump on Friday posted a video that featured an image of Joe Biden tied up,” adding, “Trump is showing an increasingly violent and personal attack stance in his election campaign.”

The previous day, Trump posted a video on his Truth Social account, showing a pickup truck speeding down the road with a flag. The controversial video featured a fake image of Biden, seemingly bound and kidnapped.

In response, Michael Tyler, Biden’s campaign’s communications director, criticized Trump, stating, “Trump is regularly inciting political violence, and it’s time people take him seriously.”

However, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung responded and defended the image, arguing, “That picture was on the back of a pickup truck that was traveling down the highway, and it wasn’t intentionally staged.” He further refuted, “Democrats and crazed lunatics have not only called for despicable violence against President Trump and his family, they are weaponizing the justice system against him.”

Meanwhile, the Biden campaign has been appealing to the supporters of Nikki Haley, who was the last major opponent to Donald Trump before she withdrew from the race earlier this month, through digital ads released since the 29th. The ads urged, “Donald Trump doesn’t want your vote,” encouraging them to support President Biden.
