A tragic incident occurred at the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands, where a man was killed after getting caught in the operating engine of an airplane preparing for takeoff.

According to Reuters, on the 29th, Dutch airline KLM reported that a man was fatally injured after becoming trapped in the engine of flight KL1341. The incident occurred as the plane prepared to depart for Denmark from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport that afternoon.

It is still unclear whether the man was a passenger or an airport employee. The Dutch border police have begun an investigation into the incident.

Following the accident, all passengers and crew members were reported to have disembarked from the airplane to receive medical treatment.

One passenger described hearing a “hellish noise,” followed by smoke billowing from the engine.

Police are investigating whether the incident was an unintentional accident or a deliberate act by the individual.

The airline and airport authorities expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased and extended support to passengers and colleagues who witnessed the incident.
