It has been reported that a popular milk tea shop in China has been shut down after a video of one of its employees placing his bare feet on the sink went viral.

Social Media Capture

On the 12th, Beijing Times reported that a video of an employee of the well-known milk tea shop, Mixue Ice Cream & Tea, taking off his sneakers and soaking his feet in the sink had recently spread on Chinese social media.

The employee was also seen touching his foot with his hand while it was placed on the edge of the sink. The video was reportedly filmed at a store near Panjiayuan in Chaoyang District, Beijing.

In response to the controversy, Mixue Ice Cream & Tea explained, “The employee in the video is the father of the store owner, who was cooling his feet with cold water after getting a burn as part of emergency treatment while working.”

Furthermore, they stated that they have instructed the closure of the store and conducted disinfection measures, along with conducting training for all employees.

The Chaoyang District health authorities have mandated enhanced education and inspections for each Mixue Ice Cream & Tea store.
