Another Public Execution of 30 Teens in North Korea for Watching K-Dramas

inews24 Views

It has been reported that North Korean authorities publicly executed around 30 middle school students for watching a South Korean drama contained on a flash drive found in anti-North Korean leaflets.

TV Chosun

According to TV Chosun on the 10th, a South Korean government official reported last month that “Around 30 middle school students were publicly executed last week with an accused of being caught watching a drama on a flash drive found in balloons sent by a domestic defector group.”

Previously, North Korea had sentenced teenagers around 17 years old to life imprisonment or death for similar reasons. Now, around 30 middle school students have been executed.

Meanwhile, North Korea has also taken severe measures, such as sentencing labor education against several residents who cooked rice with rice in plastic bottles sent by defector groups into the sea.

Earlier, North Korean authorities had issued a directive in the name of Kim Jong Un to burn them immediately upon discovery, claiming that the coronavirus could be introduced through anti-North Korean leaflets. However, due to the problematic food situation, control is reportedly not adequately enforced.

Some experts speculate that despite Kim’s harsh rule, the resistance from the Jangmadang Generation—also known as North Korea’s Gen Z—will persist.
