Would You Buy This $1,800 Wallet That Looks Like a Lay’s Potato Chip Bag?

Daniel Kim Views

Balenciaga is going viral for their potato chip bag-inspired wallets.

Part of their Summer 2025 collection, this quirky design looks just like an empty, crumpled snack bag but opens to reveal sleek leather card slots inside. Yep, you read that right—a luxury wallet disguised as a snack.

The Balenciaga potato chip bag wallet, sold at $1,750, comes in two styles: a long wallet and a bifold wallet. Available in black, green, and yellow, it mimics an actual snack bag, complete with the brand name printed on it and a nutritional information label.

Of course, the internet is split on this bold design. Some wonder if Balenciaga is running out of ideas, joking that you might accidentally toss your pricey wallet in the trash. Others see the genius in it, saying the unconventional look might even keep thieves away.

Balenciaga

This isn’t the first time Balenciaga has gone viral for its controversial designs. Last year, the brand showcased tattered clothing, box tape bracelets, and towel skirts, and various parodies emerged online.

The potato chip bag design is a new addition to the Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna Gvasalia, collaborated with the famous American potato chip brand Lays to craft a leather clutch bag that mimicked the original packaging of a potato chip bag.
