Martian Lil Doge, a creator known for consistently producing parodies of the North Korean regime, recently gained attention for posting a parody video of K-pop artist Rosé’s hit song “APT.”
Released on Thursday, the 2-minute and 50-second video titled “APT.” had already surpassed 700,000 views as of 11 a.m. on Friday.
In the video, the opening line of Rosé’s original song “APT.,” which goes, “Chaeyoung’s favorite random game, random game, game start,” is rephrased by North Korea’s iconic anchor Ri Chun Hee to say, “The beloved leader’s favorite provocation plan, provocation plan, plan start.”
The word “Apartment” is replaced with “Rocket,” and Rosé’s and Bruno Mars’ parts are voiced respectively by North Korean figures Kim Yo Jong, Deputy Director of the Workers’ Party, and Kim Jong Un, the country’s leader. For example, Rosé’s line “Kissy face, kissy face. Sent to your phone but” is transformed into Kim Yo Jong’s voice saying, “Ambush, ambush, shelling at the front.”
The video has received comments like, “How do they match the Korean lyrics with the English lyrics and make it sound coherent?” “It is currently number one on North Korea’s Aoji chart,” and “Considering that the creator is still alive, it seems even Kim Jong Un is a fan.”
Meanwhile, Martian Lil Doge’s YouTube channel has consistently created parodies of the North Korean regime. Other videos include a spoof of the Japanese song “Blue Coral Reef,” made famous by NewJeans, reimagined as Kim Jong Un’s “Dweni-Red Coral Reef,” a video of Kim Yo Jong dancing to Jo Hyun Ah’s song “Give You,” and “Kim Jong Un as Lola,” where he appears as the character Lola from the musical “Kinky Boots” alongside Putin, Xi Jinping, and others in the “Show Me the North Money 12” series.
