The Ukrainian military recently reported that they have engaged in combat with North Korean troops deployed in Russia’s western Kursk region.

On Sunday, Ukrainian media outlet RBC quoted Anatoliy Barilovych, the Chief of General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who stated that Ukrainian forces fought against some of the 11,000 North Korean troops stationed in Kursk. Reports indicate that numerous North Korean soldiers sustained casualties during this conflict.

Barilovych explained that the North Korean troops disguised themselves as indigenous people from Russia’s Far East and carried identification cards. He noted that most North Korean soldiers received training under regular units for operations in Europe.

Meanwhile, former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that even if U.S. President-elect Donald Trump takes office, he will not be able to end the war. Trump had previously claimed he could resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office.

Kuleba stated that Volodymyr Zelenskyy would not capitulate to President-elect Trump and abandon the war. He emphasized that Ukraine would not make hasty decisions, noting that Russia holds the key to ending the war and achieving peace.
