Russian military bloggers are reporting that North Korean forces have killed 300 Ukrainian soldiers and recaptured a Russian village.

NK News reported on December 13 that claims of a “hurricane-like” assault by North Korean troops on the village of Plyokhovo in Russia’s Kursk region first appeared on the Romanov Light Telegram channel. The attack allegedly resulted in the deaths of over 300 Ukrainian soldiers.

Vladimir Romanov, a self-proclaimed war correspondent, operates the Romanov Light Telegram channel with 141,000 subscribers.

According to Romanov, North Korean special forces completed their operation in less than two hours on December 6, taking no prisoners.

Oleg Tsaryov, a pro-Kremlin Ukrainian figure, asserted that the operation was carried out by a North Korean reconnaissance unit armed with light weapons.

The Alex Parker Returns channel on Telegram, with 243,000 subscribers, attributed the entire Plyokhovo capture to North Korean forces. Boenkor Kotenok, another channel with 400,000 subscribers, claimed that North Korean troops advanced a mile through a minefield, decimating the Ukrainian occupying forces.

Boris Rozhin, who runs the Colonelcassad Telegram channel with 888,000 subscribers, wrote, “Our North Korean comrades have been baptized by fire. Kim Jong Un will be proud.”

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has not commented on the alleged battle in Plyokhovo or responded to NK News’ inquiries.

Chris Monday, a Russia expert and professor at Dongseo University, suggested that Vladimir Putin may attempt to demonstrate his ability to escalate the conflict by leveraging North Korean involvement.
