Ukrainian special forces have reportedly captured a North Korean soldier deployed to Russia.

Militarnyi reported on Thursday that the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces (SOF) captured a North Korean soldier during an operation in Kursk, Russia. The SOF completed its mission and seized valuable assets, including the North Korean soldier, a BTR-82 armored vehicle equipped with anti-tank protection systems, various weapons, and important documents.

The SOF shared a photograph of the captured North Korean soldier on their Telegram channel, which quickly spread to other platforms. The image shows a man with significant injuries, though his current condition and whether he has received medical treatment remain unclear.

According to the report, this individual would be the first North Korean soldier captured by Ukrainian forces in the ongoing conflict upon verification.

Intelligence suggests that North Korea has deployed over 11,000 troops to support Russian operations. These soldiers were initially stationed in Kursk, an area recently seized by Ukrainian forces. Reports indicate that they are now being actively deployed to front-line positions.
