Netflix’s New Series ‘The Cursed’

The world’s leading entertainment service Netflix is making the hearts of mystery thriller fans flutter with the release of stills from its new series‘ The Bequeathed‘.

The Netflix series ‘The Cursed’ reveals the mystery of the cursed mountain at the start of all events, through a story that unfolds as a series of ominous events occur and secrets related to them are revealed after inheriting the cursed mountain left behind after the death of a forgotten stepfather.

The released stills overwhelm the eye with a strange and tense atmosphere. Yoon Seo-ha (Kim Hyun-Joo), who works as a part-time lecturer while only hoping for a professorship, receives news of her stepfather’s death from the police one day. Seo-ha heads to the morgue with her husband (Park Sung-hoon) at the sudden news of her unfamiliar stepfather and hears the unexpected story of her stepfather’s murder and that she is the sole heir to the family’s cursed mountain.

An unexpected inheritance is already startling but a mysterious man named Kim Young-ho (Ryu Kyung-soo) shows up claiming to be her half-brother asserting his right to the inheritance and causing a commotion at the funeral home threatening Seo-ha.

In the meantime, another body is found in the village and Detectives Choi Sung-jun (Park Hee-soon) and his junior and team leader Park Sang-Min (Park Byung-Eun) each start investigating the case. After inheriting the cursed mountain, ominous events keep happening including the uncomfortable existence of Young-ho consecutive murders, and strange rituals.

‘The Cursed’ a mystery thriller about the unpredictable entanglements of a cursed mountain and family which are rooted in Korean culture starts with a subject and emotion that anyone can relate to stimulating the curiosity of viewers. The global attention is focused on the new project of director Yeon Sang-ho who is a representative storyteller of Korea as he unveils the secrets hidden behind the incidents surrounding the cursed mountain.

The intense performances of Kim Hyun-Joo, Park Hee-soon, Park Byung-Eun, and Ryu Kyung-soo, who face off with unique characters as compelling as the narrative are another highlight of ‘The Cursed’.

The actors each revealed why they were captivated by the work saying, “A great script that makes you fall into an unknown tension and curiosity with each episode” (Kim Hyun-Joo), “It was refreshing to contain emotional sentiment while having elements of mystery and thriller” (Park Hee-soon), “I was drawn into a strange and mysterious feeling from the beginning of reading the script” (Park Byung-eun), and “A well-structured and interesting story and character I wanted to challenge” (Ryu Kyung-soo). They promise a breathtaking synergy of four characters that add the finishing touch to the intense story.

The mystery thriller The Bequeathed, which depicts inescapable entanglements and blood-curdling desires will be exclusively released on Netflix on January 19.
