Data from the integrated computer network for movie theater tickets of the Film Promotion Committee shows “Wonka” has drawn over 3 million moviegoers (approximately 3,001,125 people) in South Korea as of February 26, 4:13 PM. This achievement comes just 27 days after the film’s release.

“Wonka” shattered records for foreign films in Korea this year, opening with a staggering 179,742 tickets sold. The film continued its dominance, reaching 1 million tickets sold in just 9 days and 2 million tickets sold by day 16. Its incredible momentum shows no signs of slowing down, with “Wonka” surpassing 3 million tickets sold in only 27 days. This box office success extends beyond Korea, with the film grossing a combined $617.24 million worldwide, solidifying its global appeal.

Adding to the excitement, “Dune: Part 2” is slated for release on February 28, following its successful Korean press tour last week. With the film currently boasting the highest pre-sale ticketing rate, anticipation is high for Timothée Chalamet’s continued box office dominance throughout the remainder of February and into March.

Still captivating audiences in its 5th week, “Wonka” boasts impressive ratings across generations. With a CGV Golden Egg Index of 95%, a Lotte Cinema score of 9.3, and a Megabox score of 9.0, the film is fueled by strong word-of-mouth and poised for continued box office success.
