Rookie KPOP Group BabyMonster Dominates U.S. Music Charts

YG Entertainment’s new girl group, BabyMonster, has been making long-run waves, appearing on the US Billboard charts for five consecutive weeks.

According to the latest charts released by US Billboard on the 7th, the title track “SHEESH” from BabyMonster’s debut mini-album ranked 21st on the Billboard Global (Excl. U.S) and 47th on the Billboard Global 200 charts.

This song has stayed in its position on the charts for five weeks since first entering on April 9th. The song has consistently remained in the high rankings, demonstrating global fans’ interest in the mainstream pop market after initially ranking 35th on the Billboard Global (Excl. U.S) and 87th on the Billboard Global 200 in the first week of release.

BabyMonster is making remarkable results not only on Billboard but also on various other global charts. “SHEESH” has made it to Spotify’s daily top songs chart for 36 consecutive days and successfully entered the weekly top songs chart for four weeks. The cumulative number of streams exceeded 68 million.

Its popularity on YouTube is also remarkable. The music video for “SHEESH” exceeded 100 million views on YouTube within ten days after its release and achieved 200 million views in about 33 days. These are all record-breaking numbers for a K-pop girl group’s debut song. The performance video of this song already has over 89 million views and is heading to 100 million views.

BabyMonsters will host fan meeting tours in five Asian regions (Tokyo, Japan; Jakarta, Indonesia; Singapore; Taipei, Taiwan; and Bangkok, Thailand) on the 11th and 12th, starting at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo. They plan to be closer to their global fans by performing at Japan’s largest music festival, Summer Sonic 2024.
